The mountains are, among other things, a place of death. All of a sudden something happens that was not anticipated: snow slides, falling rocks, sudden fall in temperature, cooling, exhaustion. «The Alps» in their extreme regions are rather a life threatening, hostile, desert landscape than idyllic nature. However, passionate climbers keep up their fondness to those regions. Why? What is the secret? Where does the fascination come from?
